The Concept:
Part of the ongoing Reshaping Collection, Horitzó — the Catalan word for horizon — takes the most fundamental line in Mediterranean visual experience and refuses to let it be flat. White cotton cord, laid course by course across the lower half of a blue acrylic canvas, builds a textured mass that rises at its upper edge into an irregular vertical skyline: part coastline, part cityscape, part coral reef, part frequency. The horizon as a thing you can touch.
The Form:
At 61×46cm, Horitzó is a canvas that operates in two registers simultaneously. The upper half is painted — deep Mediterranean blue worked with white mineral tones, atmospheric and receding. The lower half is built — white cotton cord applied in tight parallel courses, the surface suddenly three-dimensional, suddenly tactile, suddenly present. Where the two meet, the cord edge rises into individual vertical elements that pierce the blue above: a skyline that could be any coast, any city, any moment between sea and sky.
