Blueprint

Experienced design thinking, available remotely.

I collaborate with architecture, interior and design studios on projects that need an experienced design perspective — from early spatial thinking and concept development through interiors, materials, furniture and presentation.

ARCHITECTURE - INTERIOR ARCHITECTURE - DESIGN DIRECTION

Architecture that begins where others stop thinking.

A building is not a collection of rooms.

It is a system of light, structure, proportion, movement and material — and the decisions made early shape everything that follows.

My work has always moved between these scales: from the organization of a building to the atmosphere of a room, from architectural intervention to the object that completes a space.

That breadth is useful when a project needs more than production.

It needs judgement.

WHAT I BRING

A design practice built across scale

Architecture taught me to think about space as a whole.

Interiors taught me to pay attention to how that space is actually experienced.

Working with furniture, lighting, materials and objects taught me that the smallest decisions can alter the character of an entire room.

I bring all three perspectives to a project..

The result is not a particular style.

It is a way of thinking.

Concept development, spatial planning, layout studies and renovation strategy.

I look at the whole before getting lost in the details - how people move, where light enters, what should remain, what needs to change and where an intervention will have the greatest effect.

Interior architecture, material direction, FF&E, furniture and lighting.

The interior is not applied after the architecture. It is part of the architectural idea - it scale, rhythm, texture, light and character.

DESIGN DEVELOPMENT

Turning an emerging idea into something coherent and communicable.

Moodboards, material palettes, design development, visual presentations and client-facing design material - with the experience to understand both the big idea and the decisions that make it work.

WHY COLLABORATE

When another experienced eye is what the project needs.

Sometimes a project needs another pair of hands.

Sometimes it needs another pair of eyes.

A second opinion before an important decision.
A concept that needs developing.
A difficult space that needs solving.
A material or furniture direction that has not quite come together.
A project that needs additional design capacity for a particular phase.

That is where I come in.

FROM CONCEPT TO CHARACTER

HOW WE CAN WORK TOGETHER

The collaboration is shaped around the project, its requirements and the stage it has reached.

A focused review of a plan, concept, interior scheme or specific design problem.

I join an existing project for a defined phase - contributing to concept development, spatial planning, interiors, materials, FF&E or presentation.

ONGOING DESIGN SUPPORT

For studios that occasionally need additional design capacity without adding another permanent position.

The Pavillion Sinopia Architecture

THE ARCHIVE
SGM Architect

Selected work from earlier architectural practice, spanning different building types, scales and contexts.

SELECTED WORK

A selection of architectural and interior projects developed across different scales - from spatial interventions and renovation to complete interiors and bespoke design.

THE PAVILION
Architecture

A deployable 30 m² workspace and sleeping pavilion for a protected property where permanent intervention was not permitted.

The architectural response was to create a structure that could provide what was needed while leaving the site untouched when removed.

EL MIRADOR
Interior Architecture

A complete interior transformation in which the existing architecture — original coffered ceilings, herringbone oak flooring and a wraparound terrace — became the foundation for the design rather than something to overwrite.

LIGHT RESET
Interior Design

A dark 3 × 6 metre living space with a single window, transformed without construction or painting.

The solution was spatial before it was decorative: furniture massing, reflection, proportion, colour and light.

KITCHEN RENOVATION
Spatial Intervention

A 1.8 × 2.5 meters kitchen reorganized through a precise spatial intervention, improving circulation, storage and functionality without increasing its footprint.

ABOUT SGM

SGM Architect is the independent architectural practice of Sofía G. Mantoni.

An architect and designer working across architecture, interiors and objects, with professional experience spanning multiple scales, contexts and countries.

Today, I work independently and remotely, collaborating with selected clients and design studios across Europe.

My approach is deliberately cross-disciplinary: architecture first, but never architecture in isolation.
